The National Forests in North Carolina Provide the 2022 Tree
Organizations and businesses from all over North Carolina came together to throw a festive celebration for the community to kick off the tree’s journey.

up booths and featured activities and giveaways for attendees. Additionally, attendees had the opportunity to sign banners for the Capitol Christmas tree truck, learn about national forests, and shop U.S. Capitol Christmas tree merchandise.
NCFA Board and Education Committee member Tara Dickson was in attendance with one of the sponsor companies, Weyerhaeuser, and took photos of the event. The NCFA is excited the tree came from NC this year! ■
Capitol Christmas Tree Tour

The 2022 Capitol Christmas tree was a 78-foot-tall Red Spruce named “Ruby.”
The National Forests in North Carolina exceeded their goal of 6,000 ornaments for the 2022 U.S. Capitol
Christmas Tree. In total, 7,500 handmade ornaments adorned “The People’s Tree” on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol and other trees across Washington D.C., showcased through the 2022 holiday season.
North Carolina has twice before supplied the Capitol Christmas tree, but this marked the first time the tree had been a Red Spruce from our state. The 1974 and 1988 Fraser Firs were harvested from the Pisgah National Forest.
