Delaware has been on its own journey of health care transformation, driven by a continuing rise in health care- related costs. According to the state, 30 percent of its budget is now related to health care costs. The projections are that without change, this percentage will continue to increase and become
unsustainable in the near future. For that reason, some have said the pace of transformation in Delaware has been too slow and must be accelerated.
This issue of the Delaware Medical Journal will focus on some of the aspects of health care transformation occurring in the state. I would like to thank our contributors for providing both their thoughts and insights regarding where we are today and the direction in which we are heading

interesting and conversation-generating.
It is without doubt this is just the tip of the iceberg and there is much more to come. However, I have a hunch that, moving forward, it won’t involve fee schedules!
