HISTORY OF MEDICINE
Under the auspices of the Society’s History Committee, an effort is being undertaken to recognize the military service of Delaware physicians subsequent to the Korean War. Consider that more than two generations of physicians have graduated during this period. The current research was also inspired by the Military Medical Symposium presented in April 2014, sponsored by the Delaware Academy of Medicine and the Delaware Chapter of the American College of Surgeons.
We are reaching out to Delaware physicians known to have served in any of the seven uniformed services from July 1953 to the present. Please complete or expand on (if previously submitted) the questionnaire concerning your service, and in addition, please note at the end of the survey other physicians you know who
also served.
MOST IMPORTANT! The success of the publications of WW II and Korea articles was the accompanying documentation (orders, IDs, letters, anecdotes, etc.), and period photographs of the service
members with events and activities in which he/she participated. Currently we have photographs from Allen Davies and Dean Winslow for the Contemporary Project.
Delaware physicians known to have served during this period are listed at the end of this article.
Please forward completed questionnaires, supporting documentation, and photographs, along with a copy of your DD Form 214 (your Honorable Discharge from active duty), to the Medical Society: Contemporary Veterans Project, 900 Prides Crossing, Newark, DE 19713; FAX (302) 366-1354; or via e-mail to Katie.Hamilton@medsocdel.org.
