                CONSIDER THE FIFTH WALL
“Designers often refer to the ceiling as the fifth wall of a room, and I strongly believe it shouldn’t be overlooked,” says Reinhard, who advises to first experiment with wallpaper in
a small entryway or on a tray ceiling. “Some people might assume it makes the room feel heavy or dark, but I don’t agree. To me, it adds a sense of coziness and visual interest.”
KNOW WHEN TO PEEL AND STICK
It’s a common misconception that peel-and- stick wallpaper is easier to install and remove than traditional wallpaper. Not so, says Reinhard. She recommends peel-and-stick only for smaller projects, like a dorm room or the back of a China cabinet.
GET BUSY
“There have been significant advancements in patterns, whether they’re printed on vinyl, grass cloth or wood,” says Reinhard. If you’re not drawn to bold patterns, texture is another excellent way to add visual appeal to a room.
CONQUER YOUR FEAR
“Many people hesitate to use wallpaper because they recall the nightmare of removal their parents or grandparents experienced,” Reinhard says. “Today’s wallpapers are much easier to remove thanks to improvements in backing and glue.”
GO BIG OR GO HOME
“I encourage people to truly embrace the full-room approach, as it can truly liven up any space,” says Reinhard.
NO ROOM IS OFF-LIMITS
Even bathrooms—so long as you opt for wallpaper that can withstand high moisture and humidity.
GALLERY VIEWS
“For those looking to showcase fine art,
I recommend opting for a solid color, a stripe or a textured wallpaper so it doesn’t compete with the work on display,” Reinhard says. “But
if your vibe is maximalist design, I’ve seen heavily patterned paper layered with fine art done well, creating a bold, dynamic look.”
