Town of Oakland: Garrett County’s seat is
a designated Maryland Main Street and Arts
& Entertainment District. Take a look around
our historic downtown and charming shops, including Englander’s Antiques & Grill, and peek inside the Garrett County Historical Society’s museum. You’ll also get to see views of the historic gazebo and the Oakland B&O train station, which includes a restored 1920 Baldwin steam locomotive, tender, caboose and boxcar.

Hiking & Biking: Garrett County offers over 40 hiking and biking trails, and many of them feature absolutely spectacular views. Enjoy a preview of the sights you’ll see at the Monroe Run and Meadow Mountain overlooks, or along the Loch Lynn Heights Wetlands Trail and the Kitzmiller River Walk. Watch as water thunders down Muddy Creek Falls, the tallest free-falling waterfall in Maryland.
