a quiet setting, try Branch

We’ve established that Garrett County has you covered for dinner and drinks, but what about lunch and breakfast?
Third Street Diner (facebook. com/3rdstreetdiner) offers daily specials that make it a great stop for a casual midday meal. Popular comfort-food options include BBQ pork sandwiches and spaghetti with meatballs. Ask for the daily soup special! Speaking of soups, try the homemade soup bar at The Casselman Bakery and Café (casselmanbakery.com), which
is also worth a visit for its freshly baked bread and pastry options. Penn Alps Restaurant & Craft Shop (pennalps.com) in Grantsville is known for its delicious, affordable buffets.
While you’re on vacation, you
get to indulge in some treats,
and there’s no shortage of
options. Lakeside Creamery (lakesidecreamery.com) serves up delicious scoops and homemade waffle cones, paired with a gorgeous lakefront view. If you’re feeling creative, head to Deep Creek Donuts (deepcreekdonuts. com) for fresh, made-to-order
cake rounds. You can select the toppings and watch as your donuts are made. For a more grown-up treat, visit Deep Creek Cellars (deepcreekcellars.com), one of Maryland’s oldest wineries.
Arts & Crafts
Begin your tour of Garrett County’s creative side with a stop at one (or both) of our two state- designated Arts & Entertainment Districts — in Grantsville and Oakland. Artists, performers and gallery owners gravitate toward these areas for special resources and incentives, so that’s where you will find concentrations of artists, events and art-related businesses. In Oakland, stop by The Gallery Shop on Second

Street, which is open to the public 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
Another great way to support the local arts scene is with a visit to Spruce Forest Artisan Village (spruceforest.org), which hosts resident artists permanently and visiting artists during the summer. The annual Christmas in the Village is among the area’s most popular events.
If you’d like to pick up an artistic souvenir, consider shopping
at Deep Creek Pottery (deepcreekpottery.com), which offers handmade Deep Creek Lake mugs and pottery classes.
