Drive-in movie theaters are a rarity

SPRING: Learn about the maple syrup-making process at Soukup Farms (Dover Plains) and
Bowdoin Park (Wappingers Falls) through sugarhouse tours, demonstrations,
family-friendly activities, tastings and more during Maple Weekends in
March. Head to Clover Brooke Farm (Hyde Park) or Lilymoore Farm (Pleasant Valley) for alpaca and llama treks, and Elk Ravine
Farm (Amenia) to cuddle a Scottish Highland cow.
SUMMER: Plan a pick-your-own experience at a local farm for the
sweetest, juiciest berries and stone fruit, from summer strawberries to plump blueberries at
nowadays, but Dutchess has three locations
where you can watch new releases and classics
under the stars. Overlook Drive-in Theatre in Poughkeepsie has the largest screen in the tri-state
area. At Four Brothers Drive-In Theatre in Amenia, pre- movie entertainment includes a full-service restaurant,
live music, yard games, putt-putt, a playground and an arcade. Carhops deliver top-notch treats from The Grand Shack during the double-feature. The Hyde Park Drive-in is conveniently located near major historic sites.
Greig Farm (Red Hook) and the most vibrant sunflowers at Hudson Valley Cold Pressed Oils (Pleasant Valley) and Barton Orchards (Poughquag) in August.
FALL: At Fishkill Farms (Hopewell Junction), pick your own pumpkins and apples before settling in at Treasury Cider bar for farm-to-table lunches and wild-fermented hard ciders (for the adults). U-pick at Meadowbrook Farms (Wappingers Falls) comes complete with tasty cider donuts.
WINTER: Visit a tree farm and start a family holiday tradition. Walk through rows of Blue Spruce and Balsam Fir at Battenfeld’s Christmas Tree Farm (Red Hook) to find the perfect tree to cut and display in your home.
