Transportation Center in Upper Darby. During construction, there will be project and service adjustments, including changes to bus- boarding locations, pedestrian flow and parking. 69th Street is SEPTA’s largest transportation center, serving nearly 35,000 riders
on an average weekday. It provides connections to the Market- Frankford Line, Trolley Routes 101 and 102, the Norristown High Speed Line and 18 bus routes. Additional improvements will include new street-level bus berths that will provide convenient, off-street service points and bus staging areas that do not interfere with traffic movement, an accessible walkway between terminals, a stormwater management system, an 89-space surface parking lot and new landscaping.
The reconstruction of the 15th Street Station on the Market- Frankford Line was also completed in 2019. The most heavily used station on SEPTA’s highest ridership line is now fully modernized, ADA accessible, and ready to serve riders thanks to the recently completed project.
The work also represents an important phase of the overall reconstruction of the City Hall and 15th Street Station complex. The 15th Street Station project builds on earlier improvements SEPTA completed in conjunction with the reconstruction of Dilworth Park and lays the foundation for upcoming phases of work that will modernize and transform City Hall Station. The improvements included new elevators that provide accessibility from street level to station platforms, reconstructed fare lines and platforms to improve passenger flow, plus new lighting, finishes and other amenities
to enhance the customer experience, including an Art-in-Transit installation by renowned Philadelphia artist Ray King.
SEPTA bolstered schedules and added capacity on the Trenton and West Trenton lines to accommodate current riders and make room for more to use regional rail as an alternative during I-95 reconstruction. SEPTA leased five rail coach cars from the Maryland Area Regional Commuter Rail (MARC) system to help with these service enhancements
