are also taking courses in the biological and chemical sciences and enrolling in advanced computer courses to master skills that can be used for employment in different fields. Because the college is used to the ever-changing regional needs of employers, it can respond quickly. For instance, this summer, the college began a 100-hour course in contact tracing, a need arising from the coronavirus. The college began training unemployed or dislocated workers to fill this need by developing a course that includes computer processes and content courses in infectious diseases and healthcare statistics.
“This pandemic is definitely unique in that it affects all employers and industries, so there are many needs to address,” said DCCC President Joy Gates Black. “With hundreds of subject-matter experts in our instructional team, as well as the confidence of the employers, local government and the college administration, we are able to respond rapidly to the frequent changes.“
