‘Leadership Through Experience, Leadership Through Interaction’
The Chester County Chamber of Business and Industry (CCCBI) is a leader in community programs, offering a multitude of options for every business to become involved with issues that matter most to it and help improve the quality of life in Chester County. One example of our desire to develop a program that
will have an impact on the future of our community is the Youth Leadership Program (YLP).
Each school year, the Chester County Chamber Foundation offers sophomores, juniors and seniors in the county an opportunity
to participate in YLP. The mission of YLP is to create exceptional opportunities for students regardless of academic and income level. YLP is designed to sharpen and teach leadership skills. The program offers opportunities to learn about Chester County-based career options and paths, and to interact with leaders of major industries countywide. We aim to use the business landscape of today to inspire a diverse collection of leaders for the future. In addition to grooming the next generation of leaders with strong leadership
principles, a major objective of YLP is to endear students to this marketplace so that they want to stay or return to Chester County to pursue their careers.
The program participants go through a competitive application process, and are invited to join YLP for the year. Monthly meetings are set and provide creative interactive experiences that will encourage students to be responsible leaders in their communities and to take responsible action.
Each meeting is structured to either introduce students to a particular industry or a specific organization in the region. Utilizing the resources of CCCBI, we strive to provide local contacts and opportunities to all. Moreover, we strive to teach participants the importance of civic leadership and community service.
Students not only get to interact with peers from across the county and region, they get to interact with captains of industry, business owners and entrepreneurs. At the end of the program, each participant walks away with a robust personal and professional network that will be of value for years to come.
