CANTON AND BREWERS
HILL are formerly
blue-collar neighborhoods that have emerged as hot spots for millennials. Head to Canton Square for a buzzing nightlife crowd or snap a picture of the iconic Mr. Boh logo in Brewers Hill (see left).
FEDERAL HILL , which
branches out from the
south shore of the Inner
Harbor, has emerged as
a nightlife destination for
young Baltimoreans and
visitors alike, but it’s an easily
accessible and welcoming
neighborhood for daytime
exploring. Federal Hill Park
provides one of the city’s
best places to enjoy sterling views of the Inner Harbor. Close by, within the American Visionary Art Museum, is SIDESHOW, one of the best places around to browse and buy one-of-a-kind gifts, off- the-wall knicknacks and fabulous art books.
HIGHLANDTOWN A&E DISTRICT is
one of Baltimore’s most diverse neighborhoods. The Creative Alliance has a year-round calendar of exhibitions, film screenings, burlesque shows and more. Look out for the nearby bus
stop that doubles as a conceptual sculpture! In adjacent PATTERSON PARK , climb to the top of the pagoda for
amazing views of the city.
BROMO A&E DISTRICT is named after the Bromo Seltzer Arts Tower, a Baltimore landmark that’s modeled after the Palazzo Vecchio in Florence, Italy. Other must-sees in the neighborhood include the Hippodrome Theatre, which hosts national Broadway tours, and Lexington Market, the oldest continuously operating public market.
HAMPDEN , historically a working- class neighborhood, has emerged as a favorite destination for strolling, dining, gathering and shopping. Anchored by 36th Street, known to everyone as The Avenue, Hampden is Baltimore at its finest — welcoming, quirky and open-minded. Throughout the year, Hampden hosts such destination events as Honfest and the Miracle on 34th Street, a dazzling display of Christmas lights.
REMINGTON
has seen a development boom in recent years. Dine your way around
R. House, Baltimore’s latest artisanal food hall, or sign up for
a private cake-making class at Charm City Cakes, made famous by TV’s “Ace of Cakes.” Neighboring CHARLES VILLAGE is known for its vibrantly colored rowhomes, nicknamed “Painted Ladies.”
