Maurizio Ruzzi ~ An Artist with Music in His Heart ~ Loreto Aprutino, Italy

Maurizio Ruzzi was raised in Loreto Aprutino, a magical setting dating back to the Middle Ages. His art captures the symbol of a space imbued with energy.
A concert pianist too, the garage of his grandfather was turned into his art studio and workshop.

Considered an ‘enfant prodigy’ at 5,
he continues experimenting with new techniques. His fascination now, what simple ‘light’ can do, the backs of his creations also have character.
A true environmentalist, Maurizio uses old pieces found in the historic, medieval village of Loreto Aprutino. Wood, cement, cardboard, building materials...
the list is endless.
Here is his grandfather’s trunk that crossed by ship in the early 1900’s to America. His Nonno was a WW I veteran of the American Army, and returned to his beloved Loreto Aprutino with a gramophone to raise his family.
As a child his uncle taught him the techniques
of free expression and by first grade his teacher recognized how extraordinarily skilled he was with his hands and gifted with a natural talent for drawing.
Having had art shows in many countries, Maurizio has, surprisingly, never had a showing in the USA. Here, he experiments with neon paints, combining his profile art talents with light.
Passed the piano and behind the trunk wall
lies the family treasure. The wine cellar of his ancestors. Growing up, the neighbors considered his family home, The House of Music.
From classical music to rock, avant-garde to fine art, Maurizio honors the past and present of La Famiglia with loving memories in this room where he continues wine making to this day.
