Kitchen designer Pietro Giorgi passes away at 83
Italian-American Herald
Pietro A. “Pete” Giorgi, 83, who spent decades as a Master Kitchen and Bath Designer at the family business Giorgi Kitchens & Designs in Wilmington, passed away on March 10 surrounded by his family, Corleto-Latina Funeral Home reported.
Mr. Giorgi was born in Wilmington, to Salvatore and Livia Giorgi, on March 22, 1938. . He was predeceased by his wife Ellen Cheever-Giorgi, his eldest daughter Elizabeth (Giorgi) Waguespack, his sisters Marie Annone, Antoinette Frank, Josephine Panariello; and his brother John Giorgi.
After graduating from Brown Vocational High School, Giorgi joined the Civil Air Patrol. After working for a time at Atlantic Aviation, he joined his brother Joe at Giorgi Kitchens & Design and began a successful career that spanned more than 60 years as a Certified Master Kitchen and Bath Designer.
In the Italian-American community, Mr. Giorgi was known for his steadfast dedication to his Italian ancestry. Until his recent illness, he was an active member of the da Vinci Society, Sons of Italy and the Delaware Italian-
American Education Association. Prior to the acquisition of the Italian-American Herald by Today Media, Mr. Giorgi was on the board of IAPRM, the entity that published the Herald.
He loved to travel, and visited all 50 states and numerous countries around the world. His ready smile and quick wit drew people to him, as did his uncanny ability to look on the bright side of life. He took great pleasure in being a father of five and a Pop Pop to his 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
 He is survived by his children,

and Anthony Giorgi (Eva); his
brother Joseph; the mother of his
children Elizabeth Giorgi, as well
as his grandchildren Salvatore,
Stephen, Jeremy, Nicole, Amanda,
Nathan, Joshua, Megan, Seth, Beth and Zach, and his great-grandchildren.

Italian-American Herald
Barbara Ann Zippi-Och has been named associate publisher of Delaware Valley Italian- American Herald, according to Rob Martinelli, editor, publisher, and president of Today Media.
Zippi has more than 40 years’ experience as a public relations and marketing professional. She is a long-standing member and past president of The Press Club. Zippi has been associated with ARTEMIS Productions, Philadelphia Public Relations Association (PPRA), Al Alberts Showcase, Broadcast Pioneers and most recently Ciao Bella Living Italian Style. She has been hosting cultural trips to Italy and sharing Italian news through her monthly “Ciao Bella Living Italian Style” page in the Herald.
“My goal is to support the Italian-American Herald mission of preserving Italian heritage, culture and traditions in the Delaware
Valley,” said Zippi. “I thank Rob Martinelli for allowing me this groundbreaking opportunity as a woman in the ethnic publishing industry.”
With roots in the Abruzzo region of Italy, Zippi looks forward to expanding the publication’s social media presence and
outreach to younger readers to help expand readership. She also looks forward to developing features that will benefit
Italian professionals, businesses, restaurants and nonprofit organizations in the tri-state region of Delaware, Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
