It’s hard to imagine the women’s PGA tournament not thriving in any weather. The field will be packed with the world’s best golfers playing in one of the five women’s majors, which also include the U.S. Women’s Open, the Women’s British Open, the Evian Championship and ANA Inspiration. In 1962, Gary Player won the PGA Championship
at Aronimink, and the club will host the tournament again in 2026. The club has also been the site of two AT&T National events. (2010 and ’11), the U.S. Amateur (’77) and Junior Amateur (’97) championships, and the 2003 Senior PGA Championship.
June’s event is the sixth women’s PGA tournament since the LPGA and PGA of America formed a collaboration and rebranded the LPGA Championship (which began in 1955) as the Women’s PGA event. “It’s really great knowing you have the PGA with such a history of running events on the men’s side,” says tournament director Jackie Endsley.
