University of Delaware Drake Lab Addition
The University of Delaware Drake Lab Addition is
in the heart of the University of Delaware campus. This 22,000-square-foot addition features state-of- the-art technologies for the chemistry department
as well as new general lab space to help create a collaborative and enthralling environment. The interior construction ranged from the installation
of new electrical power to the hanging of 34 fume hoods and various piping systems. This multi-story steel-framed addition sits on deep foundations and was faced with consistent hurdles from the start, including unexpected field conditions, restricted lifting/swing zones, budget constraints, long lead times, and COVID-related impacts. Throughout the job, the construction manager consistently provided viable solutions to help minimize cost and scheduling impacts as these challenges were encountered.
Due to the construction manager’s ingenuity and creativity, all construction constraints were managed effectively, allowing for a finished project to be delivered on budget.
