Discover Bank
Discover Bank® offers a broad array of products, including credit cards, personal loans, student loans, deposit products and home loans. Employees at Discover® are united by shared values and a common sense of purpose, to help people spend smarter, manage debt better, and save more, so that they achieve a brighter financial future.
Discover Bank’s Greenwood branch is one of the largest retail bank branches in Delaware based upon total deposits. In addition to offering online banking products, with favorable rates at a local office, a benefit of having the lone branch of a bank, with more than $141 billion in assets, is that Discover Bank’s Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) activities are centered in and around Sussex County.
The CRA was enacted by Congress in 1977 to encourage banks to meet the credit needs of all members of their local community. Discover focuses on the CRA and supports local organizations by providing loans, investments, and services to low- and moderate-income communities and consumers.
Discover Bank meets these goals in a variety of ways. Often, partnerships with organizations like the Delaware Technology Park, National Development Council, Cinnaire and NCALL bring projects like the FinTech Innovation Hub,
on the University of Delaware’s STAR Campus, to fruition.
“Discover Bank is dedicated to building stronger communities, which is why we’ve championed initiatives to expand economic opportunities and promote financial health for underserved populations,” said Discover Bank Vice President Matthew Parks. “The development at STAR and launch of the Discover Financial Health Improvement Fund helps us realize our vision of creating brighter financial futures for consumers, as well as creating new opportunities for the business community.”

Delaware Technology Park
The Delaware Technology Park (DTP) is a recognized leading East Coast non-profit research park, providing development-stage life science, information technology, advanced materials, and renewable energy companies with access to the resources and connections needed to drive and accelerate their economic success.
The mission of Delaware Technology Park is to stimulate economic growth and create high-value jobs in the Mid-Atlantic region by providing affordable state-of-the-art facilities, access to necessary resources and connections to the region’s industry, government, and academic leaders.
Over 160 companies started their business from Delaware Technology Park. Most expanded and remained in nearby locations. In the last 25 years, DTP helped create more than 16,000 new jobs in the community and over $1 billion of grants and capital investment.
The success of DTP is largely because of the strategic alignment with the State, the University of Delaware (UD), and the private sector. DTP has been recognized by The Association of University Research Parks as an Outstanding Research/Science Park.

DTP’s newest endeavor is the FinTech Innovation Hub on UD’s STAR Campus. The site combines academic assets and excellence in student engaged experiential learning, start-ups, non-profits, and entrepreneurs. This collaborative group has a fundamental mission to improve community financial literacy and financial equity.
Delaware has long been recognized as a leading financial services state. The addition of the Fintech Innovation Hub will further enhance Delaware as a Center of Excellence on the East Coast. Already a dozen tenants are in various stages
of occupying the building. The 100,000 sft. building was
designed by Bernardon and constructed by Bancroft.
