Blood Bank of Delmarva
As a division of the New York Blood Center Enterprises, the Blood Bank
of Delmarva provides blood and blood products to 19 hospitals on the Delmarva Peninsula. Bruce Sachais also serves as senior vice president and chief medical officer of the New York Blood Center. In 2021, he helped unite the Blood Bank of Delmarva and Beebe Healthcare in a novel project that offered convalescent plasma therapy to treat COVID-19 patients.

Penny Short
TidalHealth Nanticoke
For 40 years, Penny Short has worked at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford. She started as a nursing assistant, then went to Delaware Technical Community College to become a registered nurse with an intensive care unit specialty. Short worked her way up from chief nursing officer and chief operating officer of Nanticoke Health Services. In those roles, she helped Nanticoke Memorial Hospital receive accreditation as the first primary stroke center in Delaware. Shortly into her tenure, Short worked to help finalize a merger between Nanticoke Memorial Hospital and Peninsula Regional Health System, based in Salisbury, Md. The merger brought the Seaford hospital into
a larger network and a new name: TidalHealth.

Dr. David Tam is a veteran of health care executive leadership, with roles at Providence Saint John’s Health Center in Santa Monica, Calif., the United States’ military health insurance program TriCare and more. But
when he was named incoming CEO and President of Beebe Healthcare
just weeks before the COVID-19 pandemic swept the nation, he moved up his start time to help lead the Lewes community’s response to the disease. Tam had worked with Beebe’s board of directors to restructure the organization. During his tenure, Beebe Healthcare has opened new facilities and worked on strategies to serve all of Sussex County’s residences, no matter their home.

As head of Skadden Arps’ Wilmington office, partner Faiz Ahmad oversees one of the biggest and most sought- after firms in Delaware, especially for merger-and-acquisition work. He has personally been involved with multiple billion-dollar deals in his career and in some of the most consequential deals in Delaware history, including M&T Bank’s acquisition of Wilmington Trust and CSC’s acquisition of Intertrust.
