Rare example of a dated
English brown stoneware medallion, Notley Hall (18ST74). Archaeologists have traditionally dated English brown stoneware in the colonies to ca. 1690. This medallion and a second one not shown here suggest that English brown ceramics were arriving in Maryland a decade earlier.
