WHAT BUSINESS LEADERS
NEED MOST
In a recent survey conducted by the Westchester County Office of Economic Development, access to a highly-qualified and educated workforce was the top consideration cited by business owners seeking to relo- cate and expand.
Westchester County has the uniquely smart and skilled workers that businesses seek: nearly half of Westchester’s residents – 47 percent – currently hold a Bachelor’s degree or higher, offering business owners the talent they need to build and expand their businesses.
Long-recognized as New York’s intellectual capital, Westchester’s highly-qualified managerial, professional and technical workers:
• fuel today’s information-intensive industries;
• enjoy unemployment rates that are lower than that of New York City, New York State, and the nation as a whole.
Beyond its highly talented and educated resident workers, the county also succeeds in attracting pro- fessionals from nearby areas, thanks to its pivotal and strategic location, ample opportunities across multiple business sectors, and flexible commuting options.
In terms of education, the county also provides significant opportunities to recruit, train and up- grade their workforce through high-quality, four-year universities, as well as training programs offered by the New York State Board of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES) in technical, mechanical, service, clerical and other specialized fields.
Among the countless business advantages the county has to offer, one resource stands out: an exceptional workforce with the skills, knowledge and experience that gives our economy a competitive edge.
