O
ur industry has certainly faced many challenges over the last decade.
I am quite sure that I could have used up all this space and still not have covered them all. Although many of these challenges carried over into this new decade, let us not focus too much on the past when the
view ahead is so promising.
In this edition of TreeLine, one of our members has a great story of overcoming
adversity that I am sure will bring inspiration in a somewhat gloomy time in the forest industry. In this issue, you will also learn about some of our members from the eastern part of the state, and the unique circumstances that they face.
At the North Carolina Forestry Association (NCFA), we are welcoming this new year, as well as this new decade, with open arms. For some, a new year and other time intervals are just that; for us, it is the start of new goals, and the beginning of new opportunities that we can pursue to bring value to our NCFA family. At the time of writing, the association is beginning the process of working on a new strategic plan. This plan will provide our NCFA team with a roadmap for the next five
years. It will help us identify which obstacles are the most critical to tackle moving forward. I hope that every one of you has a great new year! Myself and the NCFA team look forward to making 2020 a great year for our forestry family.
