level. I have also learned that many of my peers do not understand how what goes on in Raleigh at the North Carolina General Assembly can impact their private property rights, their ability to market their forest products, and how they manage their forests for future generations.”
Jones’ passion for forestry began long before his leadership with the NCFA. In 1964, the Charles Jones tree farm became a member of the Tree Farm Program. The farm covers more than 4,000 acres and prioritizes timber, water, and wildlife
in its management plan. Without prior knowledge of forestry, Jones established relationships with foresters, connected with resources, and educated himself on silviculture techniques, state regulations, and best management practices. His
tree farm is a great example of how
forest management can create a healthy forest. Earlier this year, Jones said, “I
have always been passionate about forest land ownership. It means a lot to me personally. I continually try to take care of this renewable resource and I am proud of what I have done.”
A native of Trenton, NC, Jones owns and operates Brock Motor Company, a family business established in 1925. He is a volunteer firefighter and has served as
a Commissioner for the Town of Trenton for over two decades.
Thank you, Charles, for your service to the NCFA and our industry!
