  Sustainable Forestry Teachers Experience
Discover Our Forests,
Learn About Wood Products
The Sustainable Forestry Teachers Experience is a professional development experience for STEM educators. This is an overnight program. Lodging, meals, and transportation between field trips during the program are provided.
Teachers explore one of the many facets of forestry in NC.
       Experience Overview
• Explore sustainable forestry and learn how professionals are conserving and managing our state’s natural resources.
• Go behind the scenes during field trips of the forest products industry.
• Tour demonstration forests, logging sites, and tree farms.
• Participate in activities through Project Learning Tree, an award- winning environmental education program designed for educators working with youth of all ages.
• Network with STEM educators across the state and connect with natural resource professionals in your community.
Experience Perks
• Participants will receive resources, teaching materials, and firsthand experience and knowledge that can be used in the classroom/organization.
• All meals, lodging, and transportation at the conference will be provided.
• Educators can earn continuing education credits (CEU) and EE certification (Criteria I and Criteria III).
Experience Details
• Educators will need to apply online
to the program. Accepted participants will have two weeks to pay a one-time registration fee of $25.
 Other expenses such as hotel room, meals, transportation via charter, and materials are provided for by the NCFA and sponsors.
• Participants will stay in single- occupancy rooms.
• Workshop is geared towards formal and non-formal STEM professionals with emphasis on 3rd-12th grade science educators.
 High school teachers who lead topics aligned to Earth, Environmental, Biology, and Agriculture will find our program most beneficial.
 Registration for the program is on a first come, first served basis.
• Max capacity for each workshop is 25 participants.
Health & Safety Protocols
Due to concerns regarding the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, all persons are expected to follow state and federal health guidelines, and will follow all safety measures put in place. This includes but is not limited to the following:
• All participants will wear face coverings to ensure the safety of the other participants.
• A self-check assessment should be performed prior to attending.

• Keep six feet apart when able.
When traveling by charter, participants are asked to sit one per row.
• Increase sanitation efforts.
Please note that in-person programs are subject to change or cancellation depending on COVID-19 restrictions. A full refund would be provided in the event of a cancellation.
