SPECIAL PROMOTIONAL SECTION
Matthew Wolynetz
Partydelaware.com
The name of the company says it all: Partydelaware.com. And if there was any doubt—a quick look at its bright yellow storefront and the even-brighter pink palm trees, not to mention the giant tiki head in front—will erase it. That would stand out anywhere, but along the drab grayness of South duPont Highway near New Castle, it’s impossible to miss.
“I wanted something that would stand out and turn people’s heads when they drove by,” says owner Matthew Wolynetz. “It seems to work.”
Wolynetz got started in the party business in 1989, when he owned and operated Pup’s Hot Dog Carts on Market Street in Wilmington. Business boomed for several years, but as the city removed the walker-friendly mall his traffic decreased. So, Wolynetz expanded and diversified. The first thing he did was buy an old popcorn machine, then he added things like a cotton candy machine and an early favorite, a margarita machine. The concept was simple: If you’ve having a party or any kind of gathering, Partydelaware.com can provide anything you need, and if they don’t have it, they’ll find it.
Wolynetz built his business slowly, and eventually became a full-service catering and partying service. He did well enough that he was able to invest in his present location, just north of the U.S. 13-Del. 40 split.
Part of his job is to try and accommodate his customers’ customized desires, and that means indulging every faddish thing that comes along. That included the margarita machine, which was wildly popular a few years ago, but not so much now.
“Like any business, you have to be in tune with the customers and be willing to adapt your business to what they want,” Wolynetz says. “That’s why we constantly re-evaluate what we do and how we do it. If we’re not in tune with what people want— and that changes all of the time—then we’re in trouble.
“We want this to be one-stop shopping,” he says. “We want people to tell us what they want and we’ll do our best to accommodate them, so they don’t have to go all over the place to get what they want. Giving them what they want is our job.”
Wolynetz says he enjoys the many benefits of his affiliation with Better Business Bureau Serving Delaware.
“Being a member of the BBB allows my customers to know they’re dealing with a solid, reputable brick and mortar business that’s not just a website.”
