LIVING IN WESTCHESTER AND THE HUDSON VALLEY | RELOCATION & MOVING GUIDE
Acuario
Port Chester
Among Westchester’s Peruvian res- taurant boom, this Port Chester main- stay is still one of the county’s best. Try all the classics, such as Peruvian fried rice (chaufa); bright, citrusy ceviche; and any of the Japanese-influenced tiradito — raw, sliced, sushi-grade seafood, served with Peruvian yellow peppers and lime.

Saltaire Oyster Bar and Fish House
Port Chester
Set in an exposed-brick 1903 ware- house with 30-foot ceilings and immense spherical chandeliers, the striking inte- rior is a fitting backdrop for this seafood stunner, serving fresh market fish, glistening seafood towers, a creative selection of mussel pots, and what may be the most extensive and freshest raw bar in Westchester.

La Panetière
Rye
There’s little trendy about this eternal landmark, where gracious owner Jacques Loupiac has been serving French classics since 1986. Through the years, there have been accommodations to contemporary diners (e.g., a vegetarian menu, slight re- duction in reliance on butter and cream, a more lenient dress code), but it remains a transcendent Provençal affair.

Coriander Modern Indian
Larchmont
A standout among the county’s Indian restaurants, Coriander lives up to the name with dishes that don’t rely as much on fats yet are rich, complex, and fragrant with spices roasted in-house. (You’d be hard-pressed to beat the tandoori tiger shrimp.) Local sourcing extends beyond the kitchen to the bar, featuring New York-centric craft beer and wine lists.

Durian
Larchmont
Cozy and serene, Durian does Thai fare justice, aptly using robust aromatics to respect the delicate balance between sweet, sour, salty, bitter, and spicy. Try the sautéed chive dumplings, modish green- curry pizza, yum khun chieng salad in a sweet-smelling lime-garlic dressing, and the gingery, earthy khing sauté.

Maple & Rose
Mamaroneck
In an airy space on the ground floor of a new residential development, the county’s first all-day café is part chic store (locally made ceramics, pantry goods), third-wave coffee bar, and restaurant. The menu changes throughout the day, but expect shareable tartines (the avoca- do is a favorite), seasonal salads and grain bowls, sandwiches, and mains — all at affordable prices.
