BEST PLACES TO LIVE IN WESTCHESTER
Whether you want a hip downtown loft or a Colonial on two acres, Westchester has it all.
URBAN FLAIR
These five cities are redefining what Downtown Westchester living is all about.
      MOUNT VERNON:
Affordable City Living
Developers are making big bets on Mount Vernon becoming Westchester’s next hotbed for urban living, with a vari- ety of mixed-use projects in the pipeline. The city’s proximity to Manhattan, bevy of transportation options (three Metro- North stations, two MTA subway lines, and six nearby highways) and low real estate costs are the main draw for resi- dents, while developers see opportunity in bringing new retail, restaurant, and en- tertainment options to the city. New and upcoming luxury high-rise apartment options include The Modern on Mount Vernon Avenue, 42 Broad Street, and Library Square near the Mount Vernon East Metro-North station.

NEW ROCHELLE:
Downtown of the Future
Like other urban centers in Westchester, the Queen City on the Sound is undergo- ing a facelift. The county’s second-most populous city features a downtown that has something for everyone. The expan- sive reimagining is being spearheaded in a close partnership between the city and master developer RXR Realty, who are working to produce a community- oriented, mixed-use, transit-oriented- development model worthy of imitation nationwide. Ultimately, the project is ex- pected to attract more than $4 billion in new investment to the city. A transporta- tion hub — easy Metro-North commute plus Amtrak access and proximity to the Hutch and I-95 — New Rochelle also offers great entertainment and retail options in The New Roc City complex, as
well as a thriving ethnic-dining scene, a highly regarded children’s library, and a flourishing arts community.
