Public Schools
National rating site Niche.com considers
Baltimore County Public Schools
an above-average school district, with many of the county’s schools scoring
an overall A or A- grade. In fact, the district regularly rakes in both state and national honors. For example, at least one Baltimore County school has been named a National Blue Ribbon School almost every year since the program’s inception.
The school system is poised for even greater success in the coming years. The Blueprint for Maryland’s Future, a law that took effect in 2020, requires an unprecedented influx of state funds for education. Experts have called the investment transformative, creating the potential for Maryland’s schools to become some of the best in the world.
While college readiness is an important focus at BCPS, those looking to
acquire career and technical skills have access to a wide variety of highly
specialized programs. Career and technical education (CTE) programs offered in BCPS schools include aviation technology, interactive media production, construction design
and management, and biomedical sciences.
Private Schools
The greater Baltimore area is renowned as the home of some of the best private schools in the country.
Within Baltimore County, notable institutions include The Park School of Baltimore, Garrison Forest School, McDonogh School and The St. Paul’s Schools.
In Baltimore City, near the county line, some of the most highly regarded options are The Bryn Mawr School, Gilman School, Roland Park Country School, Friends School of Baltimore and Boys’ Latin School of Maryland.
In addition, there is a large number of parochial education options.
