Enjoy golf, kayaking, boating and swimming in our pristine lakes in summer. Ski, skate and snowboard in the winter. Hike amid blossoming trees and vegetation in the spring. In autumn, get ready to experience a leaf peeper’s paradise.
Open year-round, Clarence Fahenstock Memorial State Park in Kent offers visitors countless outdoor opportunities on its 14,000 acres. Visitors can take advantage of camping, hiking, fishing, swimming and boating in the summer – and cross- country skiing, snowshoeing, tubing and sledding in the winter. Elsewhere in
Kent Lakes, you can mountain bike, hike, horseback ride and hunt at Ninham Mountain Multiple Use Area.
Thunder Ridge Ski Area in Patterson is a popular skiing and snowboarding destination each winter. The area offers 22 trails, three chairlifts, and four magic carpets. Enjoy a break from the action at the Lodge at Thunder Ridge.
Hikers will find plentiful opportunities to explore the natural grandeur of the Hudson Valley. The adventurous will be drawn to climbing the steep hiking loops at Breakneck Ridge. Those who prefer to stay at ground level will enjoy the Putnam Trailway, a scenic paved bicycle and pedestrian path.
Golfers can while away countless hours on the greens at numerous elite golf clubs open to the public – from the five lakes at Centennial Golf Club in Carmel, to the gorgeous scenic views and rolling hills at Putnam County Golf Course.
