Heading underground you will see a glimpse at
the homes of ancient upper-class Romans filled with hundreds of artifacts that were found during excavation, including terra-cotta figurines, African pottery, mosaic tiles, and coins.
With construction starting for a modern day cinema complex in the late nineties, almost immediately mechanical intervention discovered a vast building complex of the Imperial Age,
a testimony of the city’s ancient urban fabric, thus halting construction and initiating preservation.
Dating back to the 4th Century,
this discovery was preserved and laid the foundation as one of the first examples in Italy of a virtuous collaboration between public and private interests. Don’t miss visiting on your trip to Rome.
