Riverfront Wilmington continues to get better and better
The area along Wilmington’s Christina River has come a long way
in the 23 years since the Riverfront Development Corporation launched its initial efforts to clean up, refurbish and rejuvenate what was once a polluted industrial wasteland into a vibrant resident and tourist destination with a rich history and a wealth of recreational,
natural, cultural, retail and culinary attractions. Each year has brought new and exciting additions to the must-see and must-do places and events of interest.
Vacant, once run-down warehouses and historic buildings have been brought back to life as corporate headquarters for major and growing companies, while
new construction includes high-end townhomes and apartments, boutique shops, restaurants, museums and a nature center. Central to RDC’s efforts is the Riverwalk, a 1.3-mile scenic path that provides pedestrians with easy access to all the Riverfront attractions. The path is bordered by lush native plantings with more than 5,000 trees
