HOW WE MAKE AN IMPACT
OUR MISSION
Our mission is to inspire hope in our communities by providing food to nourish Delawareans, while collaborating on long-term solutions to hunger and poverty.
Last year we distributed more than 20 million meals to neighbors in need. Far too many
in our community are faced with difficult decisions - pay the rent or buy food, pay for medicine or eat? We step in so families don’t have to make these difficult decisions. In addition to emergency food services,

My experience at the Food Bank of Delaware has been a lifeline for me, being back in society. It’s helped my mental health, helped me regain confidence. I still have something to offer, and I’m able to reach people. I have support. —Clarissa Haglid, Culinary School Alumna

we also lift adults out of poverty by
providing training opportunities in food
service and warehousing/logistics and
empower our neighbors through financial coaching, nutrition education and benefits application assistance. Our services assist more than 100,000 Delawareans.
GIVING OPPORTUNITIES

Last year we had more than 18,000 volunteer visits for a total of 55,105 hours donated. We have volunteer opportunities in Newark and Milford. Volunteers must be at least seven years old. Volunteers may sign up online at fbd.volunteerhub.com.
