NOWLAND ASSOCIATES
In the GC/CM category $2-5 million category, Nowland Associates is awarded a Merit. The New Castle Auto Spa selected Nowland Associates as the design/builder for the construction of its state-of-the-art facility located on South Dupont Highway. The Auto Spa offers customers a full-service experience while they wait.
BANCROFT CONSTRUCTION
In the GC/CM under $2 million category, Bancroft
Construction is presented a Merit for University of Delaware’s Evans Hall Cyber iSuite. The suite provides a space for students to practice skills in a variety of scenarios and “capture-the-flag” type exercises where they can test programs for security flaws, build coding skills, respond to attacks and learn counter measures.
ERCO CEILINGS & INTERIORS
Erco Ceilings & Interiors is honored with a Merit in the specialty category acoustical. Erco installed the acousti- cal ceiling and wall panels at the Las Americas ASPIRA Academy in Newark. Erco was able to complete this job successfully while maintaining budget, complex design requirements and a tight schedule in a collaborative relationship with the general contractor and owner.
SERVICE UNLIMITED
Service Unlimited is presented a Merit in the mechanical under $2 million. Service Unlimited’s First Presbyterian Church Sanctuary HVAC upgrade project included two high-efficient Carrier HVAC and Honeywell control systems to replace and upgrade the existing 50-year-old HVAC system while provid- ing an additional 870 square feet of storage space in the old mechanical room.
NICKLE ELECTRICAL COMPANIES
In the electrical under $2 million category, Nickle Electrical Companies is awarded a Merit for Hosting. com. This project included the install of two 500KVA UPS systems with a bypass switch for four transform- ers, four distribution panes, four secondary panels and 16 panels in the server room. A new 500-kilowatt generator was also installed. Electricians also added infrastructure for future servers and customers.
WHITING-TURNER CONTRACTING
In the GC/CM $5-10 million category, a Merit is awarded to The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company for the first phase of a new academic building for Washington College in Chestertown, Maryland. The project included demolition of the existing building and construction of a new 14,400-square-foot building that houses offices, classrooms, laboratory space and study areas. The project is pursuing LEED Gold certification.
