Delco’s Towns
TWandering in Wayne
he story of Wayne begins in the early 19th century, when the Pennsylvania Railroad built its main line heading northwest from Philadelphia out into the countryside. That main line quickly became the Main Line, a collection of communities known for their majestic country estates owned by members of Philadelphia’s social elite.
Today, Wayne continues to be one of the wealthiest communities in the nation and regularly sits at the top of many “best of” lists, but that doesn’t mean it lacks hometown charm.
