 31. Experience stories of courage, heroism and sacrifice at sites that served vital roles during the Underground Railroad with the Upper Darby Underground Railroad Tour.
32. Indulge in a decadent brunch. Some of our favorite places include: Avenue Kitchen, Streetlight Kitchen & Bar, Terrain Garden Café, Tank & Libby’s and White Dog Café.
33. Eat like a Wyeth at Hank’s Place. Before his death in 2009, Andrew Wyeth was a frequent guest at this charming local diner that continues to be a draw for locals and visitors alike.
34. Visit a “museum” decades in the making. One
of the country’s largest collections of marching band costumes, instruments, banners, flags, photos, programs, recordings, regalia and memorabilia — 24,000 pieces and counting — is right here in Delco at the Archer-Epler VFW Post 979 in Upper Darby Township.
35. Visit the annual Festival of Lights display at Rose Tree Park.
36. Whether it’s a beloved classic or an edgy new play, that buzz before the curtain rises is contagious. Delco is home to several theaters — Colonial Playhouse, Hedgerow Theatre, Media Theatre, Players Club of Swarthmore and Upper Darby Performing Arts Center — so it’s easy to plan a great night out.
37. Don’t settle for visions of sugarplums dancing through your head — see the fairy herself at Upper Darby Performing Arts Center’s production of The Nutcracker.
38. You have to see this place to believe it! Make your plans around the Sanderson Museum’s limited schedule and prepare to gawk and gander at this amazing collection of Americana, artifacts and memorabilia.
39. Walk through a winter wonderland at Longwood Gardens’ A Longwood Christmas. It’s a elebration with more than 500,000 lights twinkling from the trees and colorful fountains dancing to holiday music.
40. Book a ticket on one of West Chester Railroad’s seasonally themed excursions along the beautiful Chester Creek Valley. Locomotives depart from West Chester, head to Delco’s Historic Glen Mills Station, and then come back again!
41. Unwind after the holidays with a quiet winter getaway at one of our B&Bs.
42. You don’t have to travel to the West Coast
to experience good wine. Visit Penns Woods Winery and enjoy a glass of their internationally recognized and award-winning wines.
