HISTORY LESSON The National Katyn Memorial, the striking 56-foot monument at the center of the Harbor East circle, was unveiled in 2000 to memorialize the victims of the 1940 Katyn massacre of Polish nationals by Soviet forces. Baltimore has an active Polish-American population, with many family businesses still operating in nearby Fell’s Point.
