that Bone Yard’s owner, Keith Yodice, is a contractor and designer by trade, and has opened several successful
and inviting restaurants, including Café e Dolci, a coffeehouse located just a few doors down on Main. When his landlord told him about a “great space” on the second floor of a building and asked him if he could do anything with it, Yodice immediately started thinking. “I had just gotten back from a vacation on the Riviera Maya in Mexico, and I wanted to recreate that aesthetic, with authentic food,” says Yodice.
The menu focuses on tapas-style dishes such as street tacos (served “Bone Yard Style” with lettuce, pico de gallo, avocado, salsa, queso fresco, or “traditional” with cilantro, onions, radish, side
of salsa; and your choice of carne asada, chicken, chorizo, or al pastor), empanadas, and more. There’s Tex-Mex flair in many dishes, a style that favors creamier, cheesier sauces. Seafood especially shines—the grilled mahi tacos with mango salsa and ceviche (shrimp
and crab with tomato, red onion, cucumber, cilantro, and avocado) are proof positive.
Despite its somewhat hidden locale, word has gotten out about Bone Yard, so reservations are strongly recommended. If you can’t get in for dinner on the weekend, come for Sunday brunch
and order the chilaquiles or huevos rancheros. Or stop in on Mondays for half-priced margaritas and Tuesdays for taco specials. And if you have to wait for a table, grab a drink, relax, and enjoy your lovely surroundings.

Shortly after Ari Alonso-Lubell purchased Cheese Louise—a circa-2010 cheese and provisions market on Route 28 in Kingston—he opened a second location in Rhinebeck in July.
After much anticipation, a speakeasy in Coxsackie antiques shop UnQuiet opened earlier this year. Ravish Liquors serves up great cocktails and southern-inspired snacks (a nod to owner and former Saveur editor Sarah Gray Miller’s Mississippi roots).
Betty’s Snack Bar took over Newburgh’s Liberty Street Bistro space. It’s a jack of all trades— by morning, there is a bakery and brunch service; by day a lunch spot and small grocery; and by night, a full-scale club and bar.
Fletcher & Lu is right next door to Ollie’s Slice Shop on Broadway in Kingston. Founded by the owners of High Falls’ Ollie’s Pizza, Fletcher & Lu is a specialty grocer that offers up house-made pasta, fresh bread, and rotisserie chicken, plus charcuterie and pantry goods.
In September, Beacon’s Dogwood poured its last drink. The beloved bar—an institution since 2012—was purchased by Brendan McAlpine, the owner of The Beacon theater and Wonderbar, as well as Garrison’s The Bird & Bottle Inn and Dutch’s Spirits in Pine Plains. Current plans for the building were still in the works at press time.
Next to Kitty’s Market in Hudson is a new event space and cultural hub. The revitalized 19th- century red barn is called The Caboose and is home to Grapefruit Wines and private events and programs, plus indoor and outdoor activities. The eco-friendly space is 100-percent carbon neutral and solar powered.
Asian grocery and Filipino outpost Harana Market is moving out of Woodstock in early December. You can enjoy their famous fried chicken, halo halo (layered shaved ice with many toppings), lumpsilog, and more at their larger location in Accord.
Moonburger—a popular plant-based burger joint in Kingston and New Paltz—has announced a third location in Poughkeepsie. It’s set to open in 2024 in the Chestnut Market (at the Mobil gas station) on Route 9.
Coming soon to Kingston is Sorry Charlie, a neighborhood bar that took over The Corner Bar at Delaware and Newkirk avenues. This project is by Half Full, a Poughkeepsie-based hospitality group formed by Goodnight Kenny’s Davina Thomasula and Hudson & Packard owner Charlie Webb. Expect inventive cocktails, pub bites, and pizza.
