Two-hundred and fourty-two years ago, Warwick was an important encampment site for the Continental Army. Today it’s experiencing another revolution—a culinary one. Here’s a sampling of what this historic Orange County town serves up.

GOOD MORNING
Nestled along the train tracks is a quaint
café named Fannie’s that cooks up delicious breakfasts such as the signature egg (over easy with house-made bread) and corn crêpe (filled with spring peas, pea purée, fried eggs, and Parmesan). Pair your meal with a signature latte—spiced with cardamom and maple syrup—or bottomless drip coffee.
LUNCH BREAK
Opa! Greek Grill gyros are
the real deal—varieties range
from chicken and pork to loukaniko (sausage) and keftedes (meatballs). Get a platter with sides of Greek salad, lemon potatoes, rice, or French fries, and tzatziki or tahini sauce. Next to 14 is a ramen heaven from local restaurateur Damien Georges. The miso, duck, and sliced wagyu ramen are super popular. They’re served with a creamy soft-boiled egg, nori, scallions, leeks, and garlic; amp up your bowl with bok choy and cabbage kimchi from the “extras” menu. If ROAM is parked in town, go. The truck switches up the menu often; past favorites include smash burgers, loaded arancini, and beet and burrata toast. At press time, ROAM on Rail, a year-round lunch spot, is set to open this spring.
SNACK TIME
Oven-fresh mini donuts are the
draw at Dream Donuts, with
flavors such as apple cider and
Nutella strawberry. Explore
dozens of beef jerky flavors at Cactus Pete’s—from mild to extra hot. Drifter Ferments is the place for delicious homemade kimchi and kraut. Noble Pies
bakes the best cherry pies. The apple, mixed berry, and apple walnut caramel crumble
pies are excellent, too. For sweets to go, head straight to Warwick Chocolate Company.
HAPPY HOUR
Breweries, distilleries, cideries, wineries—you name it, this town has it. Top craft beer spots include Tin Barn (known for its IPAs, great pizza, and live music), Drowned Lands (a modern farm brewery with hoppy IPAs and lagers), and newish DUBCO Acres. Local staples include Pennings Farm Cidery and Warwick Valley Winery & Distillery, both of which have sweeping views and outdoor
seating areas. Founded in 1998, Demarest Hill Winery & Distillery produces almost 40 wines (including an award-winning grappa and red reserve) and hard ciders.
DINNER IS SERVED
Elevated pub food shines at Eddie’s Roadhouse with farm-to-table apps (like buffalo Brussels sprouts and gyro chicken meatballs), salads, tacos, and inventive entrées, plus they have a dozen rotating beers on tap. Sister restaurant to Next to 14, Fourteen Railroad is a fine dining spot. Its seasonal menu is eclectic— frog legs, brick-oven escargot, duck
breast with berry compote—but the more casual bar food (including a New Haven-style clam pizza pie) is just as delicious. At Fetch Bar
& Grill, you’ll wonder who let the dogs out. This spot—with staples like crispy chicken sandwiches, juicy burgers, and their famous egg rolls with fillings such as Cubano and Philly cheesesteak—takes
doggie decorations to the max, with prints, décor, and even menu puns. Pups are welcome. Warwick Thai’s curries are great—but their Wok Works and noodles menus are must-tries, especially the pepper garlic or spicy basil meats and
the Blacken or Drunken noodles. (There’s also specialty sushi.) Save room for the Thai coconut pudding.
