SPOTLIGHT
2:00PM
As a dental school, we ensure that our
students are part of every aspect of
dentistry, and our entire faculty ensures
that they are part of the patient care
journey in its entirety.
4:30PM
After the last patient is seen for the day, final huddles
and review ensures that each student is aware of
patient treatment plans. Preparation already begins for
the next day’s schedule.

Assistant Professor
of Dental Medicine
Tell us about the latest innovations in your field.
We are committed to advancing dental education
through the integration of cutting-edge technology.
Currently, our digital dentistry program utilizes
advanced scanning techniques for crown and implant
cases. In the coming months, we will be expanding our
curriculum to include digital denture fabrication. To
support this growth, we are transitioning a significant
portion of our general dental lab into a state-of-the-
art digital lab, enhancing our capacity for 3D printing
and providing our students with greater hands-on
experience in digital dentistry.
How are you bringing this knowledge to the next
generation of dentists?
I contribute to shaping the next generation of dentists
by integrating emerging technologies into our
curriculum and clinical training. By incorporating
digital dentistry, such as advanced scanning for
crowns, implants, and soon digital dentures, we ensure
that our students are proficient in the latest techniques
that are revolutionizing patient care.
How does a TCDM education compare to your
dental school education?
When I graduated from dental school in 2002, the
technology was far more limited than it is today.
Endodontic procedures were taught using hand
K-files rather than rotary instruments, and digital
advancements had not yet been integrated into our
education. But one of the most significant differences
is the level of personal connection with faculty. I
graduated from the largest dental school in the United
States, where the large class size made it difficult
to build meaningful relationships with instructors.
At Touro, I make it a priority to connect with each
of my students. As a hands-on instructor in the
clinic, I am actively involved in guiding them during
patient treatment, helping them grow as confident,
competent clinicians.
What impresses you most about TCDM students?
Their adaptability and enthusiasm for embracing
cutting-edge technology. They seamlessly integrate
digital workflows, such as 3D scanning and printing,
allowing them to deliver precise, efficient patient
care. Their ability to balance a rigorous academic
curriculum with the demands of clinical practice is
a testament to their resilience and dedication. I am
also inspired by their empathy and commitment
to patient care. They exhibit a genuine ability to
connect with patients from diverse backgrounds,
always maintaining professionalism and compassion.
They view their role not only as clinicians but also as
patient advocates, ensuring a supportive and trusting
environment for those in their care.
