WELCOME
Dear ReaWders,
4 2023 SKILLS
What’s Hot. What’s Next. What’s Needed.
estchester County is home to hundreds of companies — large and small — and a skilled labor force of more
than 500,000 people. Our Office of Economic Development stands committed to maintaining a consistent pipeline of qualified talent, and through
partnerships with organizations across the county, ensuring the needs of our businesses are met.
One of the county’s fastest-growing sectors is advanced manufacturing, which requires plenty of highly skilled workers. Westchester County recently launched its Advanced Manufacturing Career Training Program, which
puts individuals with little to no prior manufacturing experience on the
path to a highly skilled, well-paying, and in-demand career in advanced manufacturing.
This year, Westchester County will see the return of Launch1000, an innovative, fully remote, self-paced program designed to turn concepts and ideas into startups. We now offer this program both in English and in Spanish, in order to create more accessible opportunities for our budding entrepreneurs.
We are also proud to build on the momentum of our booming healthcare sector, which continues to be one of the fastest growing in the region. In partnership with the Westchester County Association (WCA), the Office of Economic Development launched the Healthcare Talent Pipeline Program (HTPP). The Program helps to recruit job seekers and employees who will be trained by Westchester Community College and Southern Westchester BOCES for certified nursing assistant, medical assistant, and medical administrative assistant jobs.
Let this year’s SKILLS guide serve as a valuable resource to you on your path forward. I’m sure you will find there are many new and exciting opportunities right at your fingertips in Westchester County.
Sincerely,
George Latimer
Westchester County Executive
