Sr., and Norm and Bud, Gloria also trained three members of the fourth generation (Shaun Rukert, Andrew “Andy” Nixon and Samantha Rukert) in Shipping and Receiving. More than an employee, Gloria was much-admired by her coworkers and
her customers. Gloria’s daughter, Lisa Hubbard, worked in the Shipping and Receiving Office for
a decade, before retiring as a Supervisor in 2008. Joining Rukert was an easy transition for Lisa, who had grown up around the business and remembers Cap Rukert. She recalls how as a small child, the dark wood of the office and rickety steps in Jackson’s Wharf felt like “being in a ship.” Still very much
a part of the Rukert Terminals family, Gloria and Lisa are regulars at company events.
The following year at the annual holiday gathering, three veteran Warehousemen became

retirees. Arthur Kent, Harry Poindexter and Clarence Watford worked 42, 41 and 35 years for Rukert Terminals, respectively. The three men came to Rukert Terminals when Eisenhower was
President and before many of their coworkers were
born. Day after day for decades, these men did grueling physical work outside in any weather. It was estimated that collectively, Arthur, Harry and
fishmeal, sulphate of ammonia and charred coconu shells by hand during their careers. Steadfast employees like Arthur, Harry and Clarence have always been the backbone of Rukert Terminals.
In 1996, Rukert Terminals celebrated its 75th anniversary with a party at the City Life Museums. In addition to the milestone, the company marked 15 years of extraordinary
