              ABOUT THE AUTHORS
Norman G. Rukert Sr. worked 53 years on the Baltimore waterfront, rising from laborer to Chairman of the Board of Rukert Terminals. In addition to leading the company founded by his father, Norman Rukert Sr. was also a historian who authored a series of five books about the Port of Baltimore and its surrounding neighborhoods. He died in 1984, but his work continues to instill an appreciation of the port’s intrinsic value to the state of Maryland. His granddaughter Samantha H. Rukert spent her summers working at the family business before pursuing a career as a psychologist. Dr. Rukert teaches in the Department of Psychology at Loyola University Maryland. She also serves on the Maryland Board of Psychology and the Board of Directors of Rukert Terminals.
