THE ARTS
TO ARTS AND CULTURE
One of our biggest cultural gems is the Gateway Arts & Entertainment District where more than 500 artists live, work and regularly exhibit. The district spans four communities in central Prince George’s: Hyattsville, North Brentwood, Brentwood and Mount Rainier. There’s always something new
to see in the district, but here are some stops you shouldn’t miss:
THE PRINCE GEORGE’S AFRICAN AMERICAN MUSEUM & CULTURAL CENTER (pgaamcc.org)
The collections at this community museum aim
to raise awareness of the cultural and historical significance of African Americans in Prince George’s County through the cultivation, preservation
and presentation of their cultural and artistic contributions.
GATEWAY ARTS CENTER/BRENTWOOD ARTS EXCHANGE (pgparks.com/1782/Brentwood- Arts-Exchange)
The Gateway Arts Center houses 12 artists studios as well as the Brentwood Arts Exchange, which presents contemporary art exhibitions, films, concerts, a craft retail store, and classes for all ages.
JOE’S MOVEMENT EMPORIUM
(joesmovement.org)
Joe’s is renowned for hosting concerts and performances by diverse artists on its stage, and for offering arts education and job training to the community.
