  SPRING
Every April, the University of Maryland College Park opens its doors to the world for Maryland Day. Campus tours, scavenger hunts, science demonstrations and the all- important Terps game are a big draw for alumni, parents, prospective students and visitors from near and far.
Learn about the healing power of herbs and sample delicious tea while taking in the delightful performances at the Montpelier Festival of Herbs, hosted each April at Montpelier House Museum!
You can also delve into history on a John Wilkes Booth Escape Tour. Booth is infamous for assassinating President Abraham Lincoln, and his subsequent flight led him right across Prince George’s. Each spring and fall, the Surratt Society hosts 12-hour bus tours along Booth’s route, narrated by nationally recognized experts.
    SUMMER
Celebrate summer at National Harbor with a performance by UniverSoul Circus (it’s “The Coolest Show on Earth,” according to Newsweek!). Other summer programs to experience include Movies on the Potomac and regular performances by the U.S. Military Band, known as Salute the Sunset.
Our parks are always a great place to gather, but especially when
the heat is turned up! Programs such as Concerts in the Park and Fitness in the Parks take place through warmer months. The annual Fairwood Music Festival at Fairwood Park in Bowie is just one of many highlights. Plus, check pgparks.com for details on a free family event to mark Juneteenth!
Need even more ideas for summer fun? How about a Legacy Wine
Tour that takes you to four vineyards across southern Prince George’s County, a Bowie Baysox game, the Lake Arbor Jazz Concert Series, or a performance by the Dallas Black Dance Theatre at the Prince George’s Publick Theatre in Hyattsville?
   FALL
Six Flags America goes all out for Halloween! Trick-or-treat experiences, a corn maze and kid-friendly seasonal rides provide the daytime thrills, while a creepy atmosphere and nighttime shows cater to the grown-ups after dark.
Fall is also a time for sports — cheer on the Washington Football
Team at FedEx Field, or enjoy track-and-field sports at the PG Sports
& Learning Complex. And don’t forget to check out our many festivals! The National Wine and Food Festival at National Harbor brings together renowned chefs, artisanal craftsmen and culinary pioneers to put you in foodie heaven. The Bowie International Festival at Allen Pond Park and the Hispanic Festival at Lane Manor Park celebrate the diversity of our local residents, while African American Heritage Day at the National Colonial Farm in Accokeek honors history.
Need something to do with the kids? Check out Kinderfest at Watkins Regional Park, or The Great Jack O’Lantern Campfire at Darnall’s Chance House Museum.
Finally, get to know our local arts scene (and sample some delicious food and craft brews) at the Downtown Hyattsville Arts Festival.
