he Maryland Environmental Service
(MES) team can be found at the
DundalkMarineTerminal performinga
variety of tasks for the Maryland Port
Administration (MPA) and its contrac-
tors and tenants.
The crew’smain responsibilities include soil and
groundwaterwastemanagement, vegetation control,
stormwaterconveyancestructure inspectionandmain-
tenance, samplingandmonitoringofgroundwaterand
stormwater, andoversight of contractors’ projects.

The crewmembers, who also service otherMPA
marine terminalsand facilities, collectivelyhavemore
than 100 years of experience performing this type
of work. In addition, eachmember receives annual
job-related training, which includesproper handling
of hazardouswaste, safeentry intoconfined spaces,
response to oil spills, working safely on a marine
terminal, and operating heavy equipment (at least
twomembersof the teamhaveCommercial Driver’s
Licenses).
