Q:What are some of the secrets of Culp’s success?
A:The Culps have done a great job of creating a culture for folks who want
to be here. It’s typical for members of the local community to come here to work after high school and stay for life. Our turnover rate is only 1 or 2% per year.
If you ask anyone here, they all work for Hank Culp, despite having their own managers. The Culp family takes care of employees, which increases employee loyalty. This loyalty is shown by some employees having worked at Culp for more than 30 years. Two individuals have been here more than 40 years.
Culp is one of the largest industries
in Northern Stanly County, and because of that, the family has a sense of responsibility to the community of New London and the area around their mill. When it came time for a discussion on annexation by New London, Culp did not fight the issue, even knowing this would raise their taxes. Culp is also a strong supporter of the fire department, local schools, and youth shooting sports.
