Jessica Ireland, NCFA Director of Education Programs, and Kimberly Stewart, Chair, Franklin County Farm Bureau Women’s Committee and member of the North Carolina Farm Bureau Forestry Committee, hosted a forestry education station at the 2023 North Carolina Women’s Conference in Greensboro.
WINTER AGRICULTURAL LITERACY FEST & ACADEMIC FAIR

The NCFA exhibited at one of the biggest annual recruitment events within North Carolina A&T’s College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences. The career fair brought together secondary agricultural education students from across the state
to expose them to different opportunities available in the food, agricultural, and environmental sciences. Students had an opportunity to complete the Project Learning Tree “Your Personality and Green Jobs” quiz and explore forestry career options. Attendees: 220 students

Jessica Ireland, NCFA Director of Education Programs, and Abigail Ridge, education intern, exhibited at the 2022 North Carolina Science Teachers Association, providing teachers with Goods from the Woods kits, Project Learning Tree (PLT) activity kits, and posters. We also recruited teachers for the 2023 Sustainable Forestry Teachers Experience.

NCFA members exhibited at the
Career Expo at the Southern Farm Show in Raleigh, a joint effort between the North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, the Southern Farm Show, North Carolina Future Farmers of America, and NC Workforce Credentials. This event was a chance for those attending the Southern Farm Show, specifically young people, to explore possible career opportunities in the agriculture Industry.

it Forward! and North Carolina State University – Extension Forestry in Raleigh. We were pleased to share information with participants on sustainable forestry and the many products derived from trees that we use on a daily basis.

NCFA and NCSU Extension Forestry led the forestry event at the tournament. Youth from around the state put their forestry knowledge to work, competing to go to the national tournament in Kansas in May.
