Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is success.
The last couple of years have been extremely taxing on our members and their families. Our industry and country still face significant challenges that will likely have long-lasting implications.
Considering all this turmoil, it is wonderful to know that the association did not just survive the pandemic, but we thrived through it all thanks to our members. The NCFA membership rose to the occasion and was willing to be flexible and open in adopting new ways of doing things.
While I am grateful for all of this, I am excited to see the association return to a “normal” schedule of events. Over the last couple of months, it has been refreshing to see our members interact in person once again. Networking, exchanging ideas, and solving problems are part of the foundation that make our association strong and our members successful in their vocations.
We kicked off the year with a well-attended Board of Directors meeting in February and a western regional meeting at Lake Logan in March. By the time you receive this magazine, we will have held our first ProLogger base class on March 23-24 at Wayne Community College, the Mid-Atlantic Logging Expo near Laurinburg on April 28-29, and Forestry Day in the Legislature on May 18, 2022. I hope you all will try to join us at our upcoming events, now that we have a chance to come together and reconnect after such a long time apart.
In closing, I hope you will take a few minutes to reflect on the quote by Henry Ford and think about how the NCFA can best serve you. Over the last several years, I cannot recall the number of members that have told us how being involved in the NCFA has contributed significantly to their success over the years. Each of the staff here is grateful for you and here to support your future success.
