 NCFA Monitors State Bills,
Files Brief on Federal WOTUS Matter
   STATE MATTERS
The North Carolina General Assembly convened the 2022 “Short Session” on Wednesday, May 18, 2022. The NCFA is joining other members of the business community in advocating for additional funding for the Be Pro Be Proud initiative. The association is also working with the North Carolina Forest Service to reinstate appropriations to the Forest Development
program. Moreover, the NCFA will be monitoring legislation that “crossed over” during the 2021 Long Session, as well as other bills that are eligible for consideration by the General Assembly. They can include those bills that...

• Were recommended by study committees or commissions, authorities, and the statutory committees or commissions authorized or directed to report to the 2022 Regular Session.
• Affect fewer than 15 counties and where no public hearing is required or was requested by a member on the bill, the bill is noncontroversial, and the bill
is approved for introduction by each member of the House of Representatives and Senate whose district includes the area to which the bill applies.

Forestry Day
in the Legislature
The NCFA sponsored our annual Forestry Day in the Legislature on May 18, 2022. The event provided an opportunity for NCFA members to come to Raleigh and
meet with their elected officials in a relaxed atmosphere on the Halifax Mall. We had approximately 70 members in attendance and at least 400 attended the lunch from the legislative offices.
