What prompted you to decide to join MSD? Medicine is a team profession, but is divided into
specialties. MSD is the provider organization that is designed to support the interests of all physicians.
What is your hometown? Wilmington, DE.
What made you go into medicine? Childhood experiences and
learning about heroic physicians serving in Africa and Asia.
M. LISA ATTEBERY, DO
SPECIALTY: BREAST SURGICAL ONCOLOGY
PRACTICE NAME: COMPREHENSIVE BREAST CENTER, LLC
LOCATION: REHOBOTH BEACH What is your hometown? My
hometown is Granville, Ohio.
What made you come to Delaware? I have had a vacation house for a few years in Rehoboth and I love the area. I realized that the area needs better options for health care, specifically breast care, so it was a perfect fit.
What made you go into medicine? I always wanted to be a physician. My mother is a retired pediatric nurse, so I was exposed to medicine at a young age. I believe that I was 5 years old when I told my parents I wanted to be a doctor.
What do you do in your spare time? In my spare time, I write, work out, participate in community projects, travel and enjoy the Chesapeake Bay.
What would you like to see MSD work on? I think MSD should sponsor forums or essays on innovations in medical diagnosis and therapy. MSD should host CME events that would provide physicians opportunities to lecture and learn about topics such as nutrition, sleep, and the latest developments in all around the future of health care.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years? In 10 years, I see myself medical volunteering at home and abroad, while continuing to do projects for children and peace work.
What do you like to do in your spare time? Spare time...
I wish I had more! I am an avid runner and triathlete and I enjoy golfing. I also draw and I am trying to learn to paint with acrylics. Traveling is something that I also enjoy.
What would you like to see MSD work on? Great question. I think I will need some time and exposure to the group to give you a better answer.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years? 10 years??????!!! I don't know. Life is a journey and starting my own practice has always been a dream of mine, so I am investing in making it
a success. I would like to become more involved in leadership positions. I feel that we as physicians aren't doing enough for our patients and that hospital administrations misunderstand physicians. I would love to be able to “bridge” this gap and help our health care system.
