Four hospital systems in Delaware were named to the
“Health Care’s Most Wired” list published by Hospitals & Health Networks. Beebe Healthcare in Lewes, Christiana Care Health System in Wilmington, Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford, and Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington all received the designation.
BAYHEALTH
BAYHEALTH celebrated a milestone in the construction of the new Bayhealth Hospital, Sussex Campus with the ceremonial “topping out” of the steel structure in early July. The 440,000 square foot hospital in Milford is slated to open in early 2019.
BEEBE HEALTHCARE
Beebe Medical Foundation and BEEBE HEALTHCARE have received a transformational gift of $10 million from the Ma- Ran Foundation to name the Margaret H. Rollins Pavilion on the Lewes Campus. The gift will partially fund a four-story patient wing and pavilion on the Savannah Road Campus that was recently announced as part of Beebe Healthcare’s proposed $180 million facilities and services expansion to extend the capacity for complex medical and surgical cases, add private rooms, and create a dedicated Women’s and Children’s Department.
CHRISTIANA CARE HEALTH SYSTEM
CHRISTIANA CARE’S Carelink CareNow program was honored with a 2017 Stand Up for Patient Safety Management Award from the National Patient Safety Foundation and the John M. Eisenberg Patient Safety and Quality Award from the Joint Commission and the National Quality Forum. The program serves more than 100,000 Medicare beneficiaries by making sure patients get necessary care to prevent disease, smooth transitions after a hospitalization, and help to self-manage chronic disease by focusing on symptom management, follow-up appointments, and access to proper medication. The program integrates real-time information about hospital admissions, doctor visits, lab results, and vital checks they perform at home to coordinate care. Predictive technology identifies at-risk patients and guides attention to their issues before they escalate.
CHRISTIANA CARE’S Middletown Emergency Department has earned a Level 4 Delaware Pediatric-Ready Emergency Department designation, indicating that the center and its staff are specially equipped, trained, and prepared to treat pediatric emergencies.
NEMOURS
US News & World Report has ranked NEMOURS/ALFRED I. DUPONT HOSPITAL FOR CHILDREN in nine pediatric specialties in its 2017-18 Best Children’s Hospitals rankings. Orthopedics (7th in the nation) ranked the highest on the list.
