TILTON AWARDS 2020:
Honoring Garrett H.C. Colmorgen, MD for Medical Achievement
Delaware’s health care community gathered on the evening of October 16, 2020 to honor this year’s Tilton Award recipient: Garrett H.C. Colmorgen, MD, the Director of
Obstetrics and Maternal-Fetal Medicine at Bayhealth Medical Center and the Chair of Bayhealth Medical Group Operating Council.
Out of concern for the safety of the guests, the event was transformed from the annual black tie gala into a COVID-safe dinner among colleagues at the University & Whist Club, home of the Tilton Mansion in Wilmington.
Each year, a select group of Medical Society of Delaware physicians, members of the Tilton Mansion Preservation Society, and the University & Whist Club meets to decide who will be chosen as the Tilton Award recipient. This committee has a challenging task, as the criteria for this esteemed award are rigorous.
To be considered, the candidate must be a leader with vision, have an innovative and pioneering spirit, be highly focused
on advancing the profession of medicine, and have a life-long commitment to service for the betterment of patients, community,
and the nation. The candidate must also be highly principled

Dr. Colmorgen is a true example and embodies the high standards
fetal specialist in the First State in 1985, Dr. Colmorgen was charged with the daunting task of improving Delaware’s infant mortality rate, which at the time was close to the worst in the nation. For 35 years, he has led the charge, sharing his knowledge with the OBGYN community, helping train new physicians in
his specialty, and tirelessly leading initiatives that have made a

This year's Tilton Award ceremony featured tributes by MSD Past Presidents Richard W. Henderson, MD and Stephen R. Permut, Philip A. Shlossman, MD from the Delaware Center for Maternal & Fetal Medicine at ChristianaCare. This is the fourth year for this annual event.
